Your first introduction to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu can be quite exciting. Perhaps you've never done a martial art before, you're not sure what to expect, or you're wondering if you need to get fitter, stronger, or more flexible before you start.
The answer is simple: you can just start.
At Elevation, you can start in two ways. Do you want to start slowly with a fixed group of beginners? Then our Beginner Course is the best choice. Would you prefer to jump right into the regular schedule? Then you can start with our Level 1 classes in Gi or No-Gi.
Both routes are suitable for beginners. The most important thing is that you start.
Option 1: Beginner's Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Course
The Beginner's Course is specially designed for people with no experience.
During this course, you will learn the most important basic principles of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu step by step. You will train together with other beginners in a fixed group and under the guidance of experienced coaches.
This is the ideal start if you find BJJ exciting, want to ease in gently at first, or prefer a clear progression before joining the regular classes.
The beginner's course starts almost every month.
The beginner's course is suitable for you if you:
Option 2: Start directly with Level 1
Don't want to wait for the next beginner's course, or does the course not fit your schedule? Then you can also start directly with our regular Level 1 classes.
Level 1 is specifically designed for beginners and members who want to further develop the basics of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Classes are offered in both Gi and No-Gi.
During the Level 1 classes, you will learn the most important positions, escapes, controls, and submissions. Our coaches will take your level into account and help you step by step.
Level 1 is suitable for you if you:
The Beginner's Course is the most accessible way to start. You begin with a group of people who are all new and learn the basics of BJJ in a clear sequence.
Level 1 is the direct entry into our regular class schedule. These classes are still suitable for beginners, but you will train immediately within the normal structure of the gym.
Not sure which option is best for you? Then we usually advise:
Are you nervous, inexperienced, or want to start slowly?
Then choose the Beginner's Course.
Do you want to start quickly, train flexibly, or does the course not fit your schedule?
Book a Level 1 trial lesson.
What can you expect in the Kickstart sessions?

At Elevation, we guide you on your way to your Black Belt with a structured and safe approach
Starting a new sport such as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) can be exciting. That's why we at Elevation have set up a clear and effective path that guides you step by step from beginner to Black Belt. Unlike many other gyms where you dive straight into Gi or No-Gi classes without experience, we make sure you build a solid foundation first. This prevents you from being thrown into the deep end and getting discouraged. Our goal is for you to feel confident and well-prepared from the start.

No.
You don't need to work on your fitness first, get stronger, or have experience with martial arts. You learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu by doing it.
Of course, the first period can take some getting used to. Your body needs to adjust, you're learning new movements, and many techniques are unfamiliar at first. That's completely normal.
At Elevation, we ensure that you can start in a safe and clear way, regardless of your level.
As a beginner, you first learn the most important basic principles of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Think of:
The goal isn't for you to understand everything right away. The goal is to build a good foundation and gain more confidence on the mat.
Whether you start with the Beginner's Course or directly with Level 1, you will eventually progress to our regular program.
There you can continue training in Level 1, progress to higher levels, and choose how often you want to train per week yourself.
Some people train once a week. Others get completely hooked and are on the mat multiple times a week. Both are good.
The most important thing is that you start in a way that works for you.
