Beginners course Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Your first introduction to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, maybe it's even your first martial arts experience. You don't know where to start, which technique first. Should I work on my fitness first? Or should I first build muscle in the gym before starting?!

Especially for you, we now have something new. A BJJ course especially for beginners. You need no martial arts experience, no good condition and no muscles. We start together from scratch and in 4 weeks we will get you ready for a flying start to your Jiu Jitsu adventure.

You will build a solid foundation in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in a group of 20 participants 2x a week over a period of 4 weeks. You will do this together with other total beginners.

These components are covered during the course

Rolling and Falling

It may sound simple, but proper rolling and fall breaking. Ensures that you can avoid many nasty injuries. In addition, a good rolling technique ensures that you will later be able to perform your BJJ techniques better.

Positions

In Brazilian Jiu Jitsu you have different positions from which you will learn to defend yourself, but also to set up your own attacks. Common positions are side control, mount, closed guard, half guard and open guard. During this course we pay extra attention to all these positions so that you can learn and apply the techniques faster.

Passing

BJJ is largely about controlling your opponent, this often requires improving your position relative to your opponent. Your opponent will not just let this happen, he/she will use his/her legs and arms to do everything possible to stop you. During this course we will teach you the basic techniques needed to pass your opponent and get into a dominant position

Position Holding

You have finally gotten past your opponent's arms and legs. You are now in a dominant position. But now what? Your opponent will do everything possible to get out of this position and you must do your best to hold your position....

Escape

But what if you now find yourself at the bottom! This also happens sometimes, you can try to push someone very hard off you but with an opponent who knows how to hold the position this will be difficult. With the right technique, without completely exhausting yourself you can get out of this annoying position

Conditioning, Coordination and Agility

Good fitness, good coordination and some agility is a great advantage when practicing BJJ. We will work on all these aspects during this 4 week course. Often not in the form of numerous exercises, but mainly in the form of practicing BJJ techniques often at an increased pace.
